FIGMENT Oakland Calls for Participation
FIGMENT’s 1st participatory arts event in the Bay Area

FIGMENT invites the Bay Area creative community to participate in FIGMENT Oakland 2014, Mosswood Park, Saturday, November 8th, 11 a.m.- 5p.m. FIGMENT is a free, inclusive, participatory arts event held in multiple cities and drawing tens of thousands of participants each year. Submit a project proposal, volunteer, or donate to get involved in the first FIGMENT Oakland!

Due to overwhelming community response, FIGMENT Oakland's Call For Participation has been extended and we're looking for creative spirits like you to submit project proposals by October 15th, 11:59pm. FIGMENT Oakland offers opportunities for both emerging and established artists — and even people who don’t consider themselves artists — to showcase their creations and get people to interact, participate, and collaborate with each other. Anyone in the Bay Area community can submit proposals for an interactive art project and help make FIGMENT Oakland 2014 awesome!

FIGMENT welcomes works in every imaginable medium including sculpture, installation, performance, music, workshops, games, experiences, site-specific pieces, social experiments, and anything else you can dream of that inspires visitors to participate and interact with art. There is no fee to enter a project submission, just as there is no fee to attend the event.

FIGMENT seeks to broaden the definition of art, breakdown the wall between spectator and artist and encourage everyone to participate. At each event, the community is invited to play with art that temporarily transforms public spaces into wildly creative places that disappear without a trace.

“FIGMENT focuses primarily on participatory art, art that builds community through shared experiences. By participating in FIGMENT, we are building important connections and weaving the social fabric that creates community,” said David Koren, FIGMENT Executive Producer
